The AMBERJACK, a 38-foot Sport Fisherman, was purchased by Germain Tony David in 1955. This vessel was a 1940’s Mathews captained by Bill Linehart and was used to run charters from the Bungalow Motel in Biloxi from 1955-1962, then from the Broadwater Marina from 1963-1972.
With the time dedicated to the “Blue Runner”, a new construction charter boat built in 1969, Tony decided to retire the “Amberjack” from 1972-1985. However, his plans were not complete for her as she would later be sold to his nephew, Rusty David. The boat was brought out of retirement in 1985 and hired Captain Skeeter Raymond and deckhand, Greg Hebert to run “Amberjack Charters” from 1985-1994.
In 1994, Rusty David retired the 1940’s model and purchased a 41-foot Hatteras Sport Fisherman transferring the AMBERJACK name. Greg Hebert was positioned by Rusty to captain the new AMBERJACK in its new location at the Biloxi Small Craft Harbor.
In 2002, David sold the 41-foot Hatteras to Captain Greg Hebert. As of 2019, “Amberjack Charters” is still owned and operated by Capt. Hebert with beautifully renovated features that make its namesake proud as she travels the Mississippi Sound and surrounding waters.
To date, the AMBERJACK is known to be the longest running charter boat on the Mississippi Gulf Coast.
