Since its founding by Edgar Madison Gollott in 1952, Gulf Pride Enterprises has been a steadfast component of the Gulf Coast’s seafood industry. The legacy began with E.M. selling hand-picked shrimp, oysters and crabmeat to local groceries and restaurants. His dedication to quality goods and service was fundamental to the growth of his fleet of delivery trucks. This dedication was instilled in the children of E.M. and his wife, Betty, with most of them pursuing careers tied to the seafood industry.
It was their son, Wally Gollott, and daughter, Janet Seymour, that would carry on the family business after the death of E.M. in 1994. Together, they procured more retail contracts and were able to expand the family business further with the purchase of new buildings, new machines and increasing their workforce.
Since the passing of Janet in 2012, Wally has been the sole proprietor of Gulf Pride
Enterprises and has further grown the business. It now boasts shrimp boats, one honoring his parents, EDGAR & BETTY, and an unloading dock with fuel/icehouse in Bayou La Batre, Alabama, Bayou Shrimp Company LLC.
Through the benevolent acts of its owner, Wally Gollott, Gulf Pride Enterprises is a well revered contributor to not only the Biloxi area but surrounding areas. It has offered relief after hurricanes through ice provisions, aided local groups and charities through seafood donations and provided employment and housing opportunities to those who are seeking a better life. These are acts that resound throughout the history and heritage of our Gulf Coast’s seafood industry and are what has gained Gulf Pride Enterprises its place in the Heritage Hall of Fame.
