PARADISE

The 45-foot wooden V-hull, PARADISE, was built in 1952 but later completely refurbished by owner, Lois J. Fountain. Used for harvesting shrimp and oysters, the PARADISE provided the Fountain family with both income and enjoyment along the Mississippi Sound for many years.

A regular participant in the Annual Blessing of the Fleet, she was a beauty in her full regalia of flags for the event.

Unfortunately, the PARADISE was badly damaged and sank when she ran aground shrimping in the St. Joe channel. Not only is she honored in the Heritage Hall of Fame, but her image is also forever engraved in the headstone of her owner, Lois J. Fountain.
